Introduction

Expanse are a leading provider of specialist training and Apprenticeships to schools, private education, VCS and the health & care sector including Special Educational Needs providers across the Northwest. We support hundreds of organisations to improve the effectiveness of professional development across the entire workforce, including Support Staff, Teachers and Leaders.

Expanse Learning understand that many schools require additional infrastructure to support teaching and learning in a classroom environment. Our highly qualified and experienced assessors and the wider Expanse team work intensively with schools to identify appropriate training, extended learning activities and additional specialist training provision for all Teaching Assistants, including those working with pupils with SEND/SEMH/ESBD.

Expanse Learning work collaboratively with Pearson to offer bespoke courses that will Improve, strengthen and expand professional development and performance. Our specialist courses are designed to up-skill the education workforce to ensure staff are able to provide effective support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including those with SEMH/ESBD.

Specialist Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Qualification Overview

Expanse Learning’s Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools provides development and progression opportunities for those already working in a support role, or those new to the organisation. The qualification will provide knowledge and skills needed to effectively support learning and teaching in the education environment.

The Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is a nationally recognised QCF qualification, awarded by Pearson Edexcel is made up of the 11 mandatory units together with optional units covering specialisms such as supporting Functional Skills development, supporting a curriculum area, behaviour support, additional support needs for example gifted and talented, special educational needs, bilingual support/English as an additional language, pastoral and welfare support, examination invigilation, extra-curricular activities, working with parents, learning guide, induction mentor and team leadership.

Expanse Learning’s Apprenticeship in Supported Teaching and Learning in Schools combines knowledge and practice for those specialist support staff roles that directly support teaching and learning.

Value Added and Specialist Support

Expanse Learning can provide a range of additional value added options for schools. These training programmes range from 2hrs CPD sessions to 5 days’ courses. Some are delivered by Expanse Learning and other through our partner services i.e. NHS, Heart Start at a reduced cost. These include:
