If you are a full-time student, aged 16-19 or 19+ with an Educational Health Care Plan, you may be eligible to apply for help to cover college costs associated with;
Types of Bursary:
To apply for Vulnerable Bursary you must be over 16 but under 19 on the 31/8/2021 and you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Are you in Local Authority care, a care leaver or living with foster parents?
- Are you in receipt of Income Support/Universal Credit?
- Are you in receipt of Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance?
- Are you in receipt of Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment?
The Vulnerable Bursary offers support towards Travel, Meals and additional expenses and is awarded on a needs led basis up to a maximum of £1200 per year.
Discretionary Bursary is awarded based on household Income and provides support towards travel, additional expenses and meals.
If you live in a household with a combined parental income of less than £22,000, you may be eligible for support. Any student awarded discretional bursary will also be entitled to Free School Meals.
Free School Meals
A daily allowance of £2.60 is available to any student who lives in a household where a parent/carer or student is in receipt of specific benefits.
