Taster sessions for pupils throughout the spring and summer terms 22-23
1 or 2 days per week programmes available leading to NOCN Certificate in Introduction to Construction.
From September 2022, Expanse Learning Wigan School will be offering Construction courses as part of our vocational education programmes to wider schools.
Pupils in KS4 will have the opportunity to follow vocational courses in Construction Studies from our new vocational skills centre based at our existing school site in Wigan.
The qualifications we deliver meet the requirements for attracting GCSE points (9 to 1) and so contribute to the school or academies’ league table positions. Pupils will have the opportunity to achieve a NOCN Level 1 Diploma.
We also offer taster sessions for pupils in year 9 during the spring and summer terms of the 22-23 academic year.
Course content will include:
- Painting and decorating trade repairs plastering trade repairs
- Brickwork trade repairs
- Carpentry and Joinery trade repairs
- Tiling trade repairs
- Plumbing
- Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities, and communication with others
- Developing customer relationships
