School Careers Programme

At Expanse Learning Wigan School, we strive to achieve the best outcomes for all our students by ensuring they get the necessary support to make well informed, realistic decisions about their future through careers education, information, advice, and guidance.

By providing access to high quality CEIAG, we enable our students to plan for their future careers. Through our careers program, we work with a range of partners including employers, colleges, and training providers.

Every child in KS4 will have access to a Level 6 qualified careers advisor and fully informed, impartial careers advice. We encourage all parents or carers to be involved in their child’s careers interview.

Careers Programme

Introduction

The school careers lead is Mr Paul Bamber. If any parents, pupils, staff, or external agencies have any questions or feedback please email paul.bamber@expansegroup.co.uk or contact school reception on 01942 877715.

Careers Guidance

Every KS4 student in the school has a one-to-one careers meeting with our impartial career’s advisor, Gemma Armer. Year 11 students have two or more meetings/mock interviews as we understand it to be a key transition year for them and we encourage parents to attend this where possible. If any parents would like to have a meeting or discussion with Gemma, you can arrange this by contacting Paul Bamber on the email address above or via school reception.

Labour Market Information

Labour Market Information (LMI) is a useful tool to help our students research future jobs in the local area, understand the skills needed for certain roles and the demand for future employment. The following links are useful resources to find out more about the labour market.

Employers, training providers and colleges

Expanse Learning Wigan School actively involve training providers, colleges and employers within the careers programme where suitable for our students. Any employers or external agencies who are interest in working with us to support our careers programme can email Mr Paul Bamber on the address above or alternatively contact school reception.

Gatsby Benchmarks
